Endorsements
One of the easiest ways to paint a picture of a candidate is to review who is endorsing them. This picture gets even clearer if the people doing the endorsements work directly with the candidate in his or her elected capacity. Clarity also comes from knowing that most of the people endorsing me have worked with both candidates running for Assessor.
